If some fans still had doubts about why Cedrick Bakambu has decided to leave Villarreal this winter window to start a new adventure in China, one can easily understand it when looking at the salary the Congolese player is set to receive when he signs with Beijing Guoan.
He’ll earn a gross pay packet of 18 million euros for each of his four seasons at the club.
The figures were unveiled by the French newspaper L’Equipe and will serve to turn the striker into one of the highest paid players in the Asian league, only surpassed by the 20 million that the Brazilians Hulk and Oscar receive, both in Shanghai SIPG.
Then there was the 38m euros Carlos Tevez earned with Shanghai Senhua.
In terms of a transfer fee, 40m euros will be sent to Villarreal for Bakambu’s signing and almost the same amount will have to be paid to settle the new 100 percent tax, as a result of the foreign signing price that has come into place since last summer’s transfer market.
If the Chinese side cannot avoid this tax, the total amount of the operation will exceed 100m euros.
